Zanger Vintage Airpark
Zangger family airport in Larchwood has earned its place as one of the oldest privately owned and operated airports in the state. Since 1949, Russell and Dolly Zangger have dedicated themselves to owning, financing, and running Zangger Airfield. Over the decades, the airport has become a remarkable landmark, featuring two runways and holding the distinction of being Iowa’s very first airpark with homes offering direct private hangar access to the runways.
This unique setup has not only made aviation more accessible for residents but also set a precedent for airparks throughout the region. Their ongoing commitment and passion for aviation have truly transformed Zangger Airfield into a special place for both pilots and the local community.
